Here is a Halloween story. I hope you’ll like it.

Who is it for? Why anyone, of course–anyone who likes to read or be read to. Some grown-ups never leave off reading children’s stories. I still enjoy them.

There aren’t any pictures. You will have to use your imagination and make your own pictures.

I chose the name Beatriz for the girl in the story. Beatriz is the Spanish and Portuguese form of Beatrix. It means she who makes happy.

In the story Beatriz isn’t making her mother very happy at first. But at the end, I think she will. What do you think?
